Is this a legitimate notification from Apple?

Yep it is the same scam that has reported here many times with the exact same dollar amount. Nothing more needs to be done other than deleting it and never call any provided number in the message.

You are wise to be suspicious. The message is a scam at. Do not interact with the message or the sender.

I have received one of those text messages. Was suspicious and never responded. I immediately deleted and reported as junk so as I hope I won't get another one. I also changed my password for apple id/iCloud on my personal computer (not on my iPhone) I still felt like the scammer could receive info

The only issue is that they are now aware you may be susceptible to these types of scams, so you may receive more of them, but since you did not provide any personal information, your account has not been compromised.
