iPhone 16 I'm unable to disable voice-to-text

In order to do anything that involves a keyboard, I must be in a silent environment. It will capture any background voices - news, TV, commercials, nearby conversations - and insert them into the text area (txt messages, search bar, etc.) This is driving me crazy!

I've disabled the microphone in all apps, I've disabled voice-to-text, and the problem persists. The only workaround is to turn off whatever I'm listening to and/or go to a quiet place. The orange "listening" dot is always present. It's creeping me out! People think I'm crazy because my txt msgs are all garbled up with half what I'm typing and half what the phone hears.

PLEASE HELP ME!

I got the phone in October, and I think the first week or two it was fine. Was there an update or something? I'm about ready to ship it back!

To ensure proper functionality, please verify which of the following features is activated:

With VoiceOver—a gesture-based screen reader—you can use iPhone even if you can't see the screen. VoiceOver gives audible descriptions of what's on your screen—from battery level, to who's calling, to which app your finger is on. You can also adjust the speaking rate and pitch to suit your needs.

Turn on and practice VoiceOver on iPhone - Apple Support (IN)

Go to Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content. Adjust any of the following: Speak Selection: To hear text you selected, tap the Speak button. Speak Screen: To hear the entire screen, swipe down with two fingers from the top of the screen.

Hear iPhone speak the screen, selected text, and typing ...

On your device, go to Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content > Typing Feedback. From here, you can turn on the following: Character feedback: Turn on Characters to have your device speak letters as you type.

Use Typing Feedback on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Turn on Dictation

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard. Turn on Enable Dictation.

Dictate text on iPhone - Apple Support (IN)

Your response doesn't Address the problem. How can you get Voice to text dictation to hear only your voice and not other voices in a room? In the past you could disable the microphone on keyboard to stop recording everything. Now that doesn’t work. Plus dictation will stop as if it’s out of memory or something. So you have to wait and come back to it. I Hate my new iPhone 16!!!
