Airpods Pro v1 keep connecting and disconnecting

About 4 months ago (early Sept 2024) my airpods pro 1 worked perfectly. They suddenly started having issues.

issue 1: They kept connecting and disconnecting from my iPhone Pro 14.

This completely drains the batteries of my airpods but not the case, which is interesting.

Issue 2: I have to charge the case for 3-5 seconds before I can remove the buds otherwise they won’t connect to my Iphone.

I have:

  • reset the airpods multiple times
  • turned off automatic ear detection
  • Disabled bluetooth access to different apps
  • bluetooth turned off and on
  • Set microphone automatic detection to the left and right bud
  • disconnected & deleted the airpods from my Laptop and turned off bluetooth on my iPad so it wouldn’t interfere
  • done all the other suggestions online

To demonstrate this is an Apple Bluetooth software issue. I have upgraded to the Iphone 16 Pro and have the same problem.

The firmware on the Airpods is always on the latest version.

Nothing works and this seems to be an issue with the AirPods Pro 2 as well.

Has anyone actually resolved this problem permanently or is it still ongoing & intermittent?

So a quick update on this issue. I decided to buy some of the cheapest Bluetooth earbuds available to see whether they had the same issie connecting to my phone.

They have connected flawlessly.

They have stayed in my ears really well while doing basic tasks.

The sound is not amazing it is certainly ok for non-noisy conditions.

Music and audible play and pause well.

Airpods Pro v1 have been placed in a bag and are no longer used until Apple resolves their software issue.
