Cannot use Magic Mouse and Airpods Pro 2 At Same Time
Yesterday I got a new pair of Airpods Pro 2. Anytime I open the case (or put them in my ears) the Magic Mouse already paired to my Macbook instantly stops working and disconnects in a clearly broken way. If I disconnect both of them, then try to reconnect both at the same time, only Airpods Pro 2 ever sync. It seems as though they are getting precedence, potentially because they are both connecting on the same bluetooth channel.
This issue was also outlined 2 years ago here without a reliable solution:
For 48 hours I was unable to find a solution. I tried the following to no avail so do not bother trying these steps:
- Reset PRAM
- reset the computer multiple times
- recharged every device to full battery
- unplugged various things from my mac
- reconnected all my devices after leaving bluetooth off for 5 minutes
- disconnecting bluetooth devices nearby from other devices nearby etc.
The solution?
Delete every single device in "My Devices" under Bluetooth settings, then reconnect both.
After that, no issues!
It seems as though if you have enough devices in "My Devices", you can get into a situation where OSX starts re-using bluetooth channels and might put two devices you use simultaneously on the same channel, and thus you can't have them connected at the same time.
Hope this helps someone. Saw another couple posts in here with no solution, as well as on Reddit.
