Apple Pencil Pro not connecting

I purchased a new Apple Pencil Pro and it will not connect to my 13” iPad Air M2. It’s been charging for 4 hours. I’ve tried rebooting the iPad, turning the Bluetooth off and on and the pencil does not show up. I also tried taking the case off the iPad. Still nothing.

Any suggestions?
