Copying & pasting from Notes to transfer to Word

The Notes app does not allow me to copy to Word. Having tried that it totally does not work. I need to cut and paste within the Notes app and transfer to Word, but it doesn't offer that option. I don't know what to do and I need to get this done without retyping everything.

How can you import a Pages document into Notes? I want to be able to import a pages document into my Notes app [working on desktop] - just tried [File-Import to Notes] and selected or tried to the document and it was greyed out and could not be selected.
