I have bought an Apple Pencil Pro a few days ago and now that I opened and tried to pair it I've found out that it's not compatible with my device (iPad Pro 12.9). I haven't used the pencil yet and the pen hasn't been paired to any device so far; can I exchange it with an older generation (namely Apple Pencil 2nd Generation)? everything including the pen itself and the box is intact.

If you bought it from Apple, they offer refunds and exchanges within 14 days in most countries, and likely longer during the holiday period. Otherwise, check the store's policy.
