Download purchased CDs into itunes icloud problems

I have downloaded most of my purchased CDs onto my computer and into iTunes. And then disposed of the cds.

Now Apple is saying there is no music on many of those files. I have them saved on my computer at well. Is there a better platform from a PC, many are on VLC media player.

I try uploading to the cloud but it stops. There are also multiple copies from saving on different drives. Any advice?

Let's start from the beginning.

Did you use iTunes to copy (rip) the CDs into your iTunes Library (or did you use another programme and then add the files to your iTunes Library)?
- If you did use iTunes to rip the CDs, are they still listed in your Library and do they play?
If you cannot see the songs listed in your iTunes Library, does your iTunes show only AudioBooks and Podcasts?
