Press and hold the power button until the computer shuts off. Then reboot normally.

If an App is Stuck:

A. Force Quit this App:

If the page froze, then quit the app. Being an eMail, it would be saved as a draft, by default settings. Use [command + Q]

B. Force Quit All Open Apps:

Save what need bee on responsive apps, and then close them. Get to the Desktop, and then "Force Quit" all apps.  See my User Tip: [command+tab] Use it to Access your Mac when Something is Not Responding - User
