Remember this old remote?
Found a slim remote that I think controlled volume and other things on my iMac a long time ago. Anybody remember those? I suppose it's just a curio now and not worth getting a new battery for...?

Yes, remember them indeed. I still have a couple lying around.
These aluminum Apple Remotes (A1294) were introduced in Oct. 2009 and discontinued 13 years later in 2022 ... so they have been around quite awhile.
They were used with both the Apple TVs and a number of older Mac models that had infrared capability. You can find more info about them from this Wikipedia page.
