Phone not Seen by iTunes, but is seen by Apple Devices

I've seen so many threads on this one one solution or another and some folks never get back to reply what worked and what did not. Some posts may have outdated info, especially since Apple/Microsoft now has the iTunes app, and now are going to split iTunes into three separate apps. The new Apple Music app is totally not ready for prime time, so I need to stay on iTunes. Plus the new Apple Music app wouldn't even play any sound on my computer. It looks like it's playing something, but it's doesn't.

Anyway, in an effort to be detailed and complete, here is what I've done/experienced so far:

I never had a problem before connecting my phone to iTunes. One day, it just didn't connect anymore. I suspect a Windows update.

Anyway, I did the below while running iTunes64, but I just updated Win 11 and it made me uninstall iTunes64 and install the iTunes app. Either way, the problem persists. The phone does appear when using Apple Devices instead of iTunes, but uninstalling Apple Devices does not fix the problem with iTunes.

1) Plug in phone.

2) Apple Mobile Device USB Composite Device appears in Device Manager

3) Prompt appears on phone to allow the computer to access photos and videos.

4) Tap Allow

5) Phone appears in File Explorer and is accessible.

I am =not= presented with the Trust this Computer prompt. I used to get this prompt every time I connected to iTunes. I have reset Location and Privacy settings to factory defaults on my phone, but I am still not presented with the Trust this Computer prompt.

When using iTunes64, I did check to ensure that the Apple Mobile service was running. It was. Now that I'm running the iTunes app, that service is no longer there.

I did try to update the driver for Apple Mobile Device USB Composite Device by navigating to

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support, and also

C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\RepairDevConnect

and tried updating the drivers from both locations. One time it advised me that a reboot was required. I had high hopes. Unfortunately, the driver update did not fix the problem.

I have used multiple cables and ports and am currently using an authentic Apple cable plugged into a USB-C port.

I did see a post (DOC-6562) about a complete rebuild of iTunes. I can try that, but if there is anything else I've missed before I go down that path, please let me know.

Thanks in advance. Lots of respect for the folks in this forum donating your time to help others.

I didn't realize that this post had gone through because the system timed out. I had actually solved this and posted it another thread.

Uninstalling Apple Devices didn't work. Installing iTunes64 didn't work. When I ran the last Windows 11 updated it forced me uninstall iTunes64 and use the iTunes app. In the end, the issue happened to be with the generic Microsoft USB driver for USB Composite Device. The status was "Working Properly," but I reloaded the same driver from the windows\system32\drivers folder. Once I did that, everything started working as expected. iTunes asked me for my password and my phone asked me if I trusted the computer.
