math formula formatting help

trying to insert formula v5.1.

First off, I am getting column titles and dates instead of Cell numbers.

Here's the formula as I'd inserted and a pic of the resulting huh?

IE: (I26-J26*F26)*100-O26. The result should be $452.64.

But I get either some wacky math or a syntax error.

thanks

Go to menu item Numbers->Preferences. Turn off "Use header names as labels". The cell references will then be the usual column-row type references.

The formula you posted is (240.00 -237.50*2)*100 -47.36 which is -23,547.36

If any of those numbers were from formulas and not truly rounded to 2 decimals, the answer might be a little different.

Turning things around a little, (452.64 + 47.36)/100 = 5 so you are expecting the stuff in the parentheses to be equal to 5. It looks like you want this as your formula:

=(I26-J26)*2*100-O26

This will equal 452.64
