Apple Music Promotion Denial for Airpods Max Purchase

I purchased a brand new Apple Airpods Max headset in early December of 2024. There was a promotional offer for a free Apple Music trial for up to 3 months with that purchase, for new or returning subscribers. At the time of purchasing I had an active Apple Music account and it was set to expire. Once my active account expired I went to redeem my promotional offer for Apple Music. Once I did I immediately was denied and received an error message that stated "you are not eligible for this offer". So I reached out to Apple Support and explained everything. At that point I was told that I cannot use the promotional offer because it's been less than a year since I had an active Apple Music account. And further suggested that I simply make up another Apple account and use the offer with the new account. I was a little shocked that an Apple Support employee had suggested to do that, to be deceptive and create a new account. When I asked about this "rule" where I needed not to have an active Apple Music account for at least a year I was sent a link to view the Terms and Conditions of my offer. No where in this link stated what I was being told. When I stated that to the Apple Support employee this person just repeated what they suggested earlier, to just create another Apple ID and use the promotional offer. At that point I asked to speak to a supervisor or manager and was told I'd have to call 1-800-275-2273 to speak to someone. Which I haven't had the opportunity to do so yet.

So why am I being denied the promotional offer? There's no where in the Terms and Conditions I was sent that state some year rule.

Here is a link to the three month Apple Promotion --> https://offers.applemusic.apple/new-device-offer

It says at the top of the page and the 1st condition bulleted below "New Subscribers ONLY." By your own admission, you have or at least had an Apple Music Subscription, so you are NOT a new subscriber. And so, you were given the right information from whoever you spoke with. You simply don't qualify for this promotion at all. And it was clear by what was published that you don't qualify.

My offer in the email states,

"Disclaimer *Offer Details: Code expires on 2.28.2025, 2024. New or returning subscribers only. This is a promotional code and is not for resale, has no cash value, and will not be replaced if lost or stolen. Plan auto-renews for $10.99/month after trial until cancelled. Valid only for Apple Music in the United States. Requires Apple ID with payment method on file. Terms and Apple Privacy Policy apply; see the applicable terms for your country at https:// www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/. Must be 13+ and in the country that matches the store front on which you are redeeming the code. *Compatible hardware and software required. Not all content available in Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos."

Interesting. To my knowledge, these promotions have only been available to new subscribers. Either way, there is no point discussing it here. We aren't Apple. This is a user to user only forum, which no one from Apple participates. You'll have to continue to take this up with Apple directly. We can't do anything about the email you received versus what is published on Apple's own site.
