How do I input things like external cameras (DSLR) with a HDMI output to use my iPad Pro M4 as a preview monitor?

I am disabled with some issues with my eyes and I want to view the output of my Cameras on my iPad Pro M4

screen, I think it is possible with OBS on Macs but I can't find out how to do it on new iPads.

I searched the App Store and can't find a app that mentions HDMI input to iPad only stuff about outputting from the iPad to HDMI which is easy to find out and not what I am after.

I just want a straight input to iPad solution rather than inputing to Mac and then casting to iPad from

a Mac, to be honest I can't remember if I casted stuff from iPad to Mac or Mac to iPad and I am unsure

about the Luna dongle and App, what is the best solution for displaying non-copy protected HDMI

sources like DSLR cameras or other External HDMI cameras like a Endoscope or Microscope etc

output viewable on a iPad screen, this would be a big help to me if possible.

iPad Pro, iPadOS 18

Your iPad does not natively support video input from HDMI. However, there is a low cost App/hardware solution for iPad that may achieve your goal - Luna Display:

Thank you for your reply, I have now used a good quality portable monitor there are some A rated ones from

a few companies with a decent history I would still love to do it with a iPad but something with a good IPS

panel is fine for what I want to do mostly, the main benefit of doing it with a iPad would be the twin OLED

and on the fly screenshots and Airdrops and of coarse touchscreen and the Pro Pen touch ups.

You cannot use a M4 iPad Pro as a HDMI monitor. That iPad has a USB-C / Thunderbolt 3 port, and can drive an external monitor (including even the 27" Apple Studio Display), but does not accept video input.

There may be tethering applications that would let you display a video image from a mirrorless camera, or a Live View image from a DSLR, on the iPad, using other means.
