Can I use my old mouse and keyboard with a new Mac mini?

I am looking to buy a mini and would like to keep my current keyboard and mouse to use with it. I also want to keep my old Mac and use another keyboard and mouse with it. The old mouse is a 1296. How to I get the old mouse to replace the current mouse?

Sorry, but your post is missing a lot of what would be useful information.

You currently have an iMac and use the 1st gen (A1296) Apple Magic Mouse with it. You didn't provide what keyboard you are using with it.

You are planning on getting a new Mac mini. Since you will be keeping your iMac, which mice/keyboards are you planning on using with each of them? That is, will you have only one pair of these devices to use with both computers, or have two pairs, one for each computer?
