I've replace the AirTag battery, verified Privacy settings, restarted my iPhone, removed and replaced the AirTag batter 5 times...but my iPhone doesn't find my Airtag.

It was previously used by my wife when she traveled. Now that I'm traveling, I deleted it off her phone and tried to add it to mine. If I remove and replace the battery, the AirTag makes a sound each time.
Was this tag previously “findable” on your phone?
Def sounds like it’s still connected to her AppleID.
