Choosing powered multi-port Dock for 2021 iMac M1 Desktop

I'm 81 yrs old. Fully capable of researching, but I've reached an impasse.

My 2021 iMac Desktop came with very few ports.

  • Two Thunderbolt ports that support DisplayPort, Thunderbolt 3, USB 4, and USB 3.1 Gen 2
  • 3.5 mm headphone jack: One port for headphones
  • Gigabit Ethernet: One port for Ethernet
  • Two USB 3 ports

My Satechi USB-C Multiport Pro (is plugged into one of the USB-3 ports on back of iMac) to accommodate my wired mouse and wired Mac keyboard. Satechi also has two slots for photo cards.

My G-Tech External 2TB Drive USB-C is plugged into the other USB-3 port on back of iMac (used only for Time Machine backups).

My Seagate External 2TB Drive is plugged into a Thunderbolt port on back of iMac) via a USB-C to USB Adaptor (used only for storing/editing videos converted from VHS).

One Thunderbolt port remains available on back of iMac.

At issue: No available port for my Plustek Slide Scanner or USB Apple SuperDrive CD/DVD Player (both have old-style USB connectors). No place to connect my collection of older USB thumb drives.

Possible solution: I'm looking at the CalDigit TS4 Powered Docking Station with tons of ports and a BIG price tag. Its been on the market a few years and the TS5 will eventually be released.

IS THE TS4 the best solution??
