AirPods Pro 2nd generation are not connecting to my iPhone 7 Plus

Hi apple community.

I have come across a big problem about an hour ago when I tried to factory reset my airpods pro 2nd gen with my Iphone 7 plus. However after I pressed "forget" with all my devices it seems like my phone has stopped connecting to the airpods pro 2nd gen. My windows 11 laptop still connects to the airpods pro 2 but not on my iphone. Could it be because my phone is too old to connect to the airpods or is it the airpods problem? Please help!
