I was charged for Apple TV although I cancelled before the trial ended

I signed up for the Apple TV free trial. I decided I did not want to continue with the membership and cancelled the free trial in my account settings.

However, after the free trial it still charged my payment method which had setup an autopay.

On contacting them via email I was told to call their customer support.

Apple should process an auto-refund in this case as I was incorrectly charged. As the charge does not show up in my account, because I had cancelled the free trial, there is no way for me to open a ticket on this issue.

This is ridiculous and should not require me to chase their customer support via a phone for a response.

You should be able to contact the appropriate people in Apple Support by one of these methods:

If you see 'apple.com/bill' on your billing statement - Apple Support

Scroll down to contact Apple Support.

Contact Apple for support and service - Apple Support

A list of phone numbers by region

Subscriptions and Billing - Official Apple Support

Request a refund

… As the charge does not show up in my account, …

Any charge to your Apple Account will show up in your purchase history, including fees for expired subscriptions.

View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services - Apple Support

Please verify there.

Typically, Apple applies a 24 hour margin for canceling subscriptions. Did you cancel in time, at least 24 hours before the renewal moment, which is offset from the starting moment (in hours and minutes)? The timestamp on your subscription confirmation email can help determining that.

This info was helpful, thanks.

I may have cancelled with a little less than 24 hours remaining.

My account settings currently show the following:

You have cancelled your subscription.

Your subscription ended on 13 January.

My payment method was set to GPay with an autopay approval.

It seems that the autopay charge went through against my bank account even though my cancellation went through in time.

I can't view any AppleTV content now, which means that I am not subscribed, but somehow Gpay sent the money to Apple. Had my cancellation not been requested in time, I should at least have access to the content if I was charged.

I was hoping that it would be refunded by Apple back via GPay, but I can't raise a support ticket without a charge showing up against my Apple account.
