iCloud Downgrade Plan on Renewal Date

Why isn’t the iCloud downgrade plan working within 24 hours of the renewal date? It seems that the change won’t take effect until a month later. This is inconvenient because clients would need to make the change at midnight or one day before the renewal date to have it effective immediately in their calendar month. The application should allow clients to change their iCloud plan within 24 hours of subscribing on the “iCloud changing plan” screen.

Apple specifically states that subscriptions need other be terminate more than 24 hours before they are set to renew otherwise they may not cancel and still renew one more time.

Users can cancel at any time before the month is over and the subscription will remain active until the end of that subscription period.

There is absolutely no functional reason to wait to cancel it until it's almost set to renew.

Why to works this way, Apple has not said. But they do advise this clearly in their cancellation instructions.
