Will deleting a backup delete the photos off my old device?

I have been trying to back up my iPhone 14 Pro for about 5 months now, and absolutely no progress. It suggests for myself to delete an old phone’s backup. If I delete said backup, will the photos on the device itself delete? Or will they stay on the phone itself, and delete from iCloud?

Deleting a backup will not delete anything off the device. No photos will be deleted from iCloud except those in the backup itself.


If you use icloud backup for your current phone without using iCloud Photos then you will eventually need to buy more icloud storage. The space needed on iCloud is about the same.
