H&R Block tax software 2024 using MacBook Air Big Sur macOS 11

I want to purchase H&R Block tax software 2024 for my MacBook Air (early 2014) but H&R Block technical specifications indicate mac OS 12 or higher is required. The MacBook Air (early 2014) cannot be upgraded past Big Sur (macOS 11, version 11.7.10). I am curious if anyone has successfully downloaded and used the H&R Block tax software for 2024 with a MacBook Air supporting Big Sur (macOS 11). For a few years, I successfully downloaded and used H&R Block tax software onto my desktop Mac supporting High Sierra (macOS 10.13) when the H&R Block requirements stated Catalina (MacOS 10.15) or newer was needed. I am hoping to have the same luck with my MacBook Air (early 2014) supporting Big Sur (macOS 11). Who wants to be the guinea pig this year?

I transferred the software from my iMac to my MacBook Pro running macOS Big Sur 11.7.10, and it worked fine despite receiving a message stating that the software was designed for macOS 12 for optimal performance. I clicked "Continue" and proceeded with the installation without issues. You shouldn't face any problems with yours either. I successfully completed my taxes, submitted them, and they were ACCEPTED by the IRS.

@Judospur - I just successfully completed a tax return for a family member, submitted it, and it was accepted by the IRS. That's two of us, lol. I am still working on my personal tax return but feeling pretty confident at this point that all will go well.

Excellent write-up. It will no doubt be helpful for others as well! I also liked the fact that the help file on the H&R site says "Mac OS® X 10.15.7 or higher" - it provides additional support for a refund if needed! It's the main reason I was willing to buy the H&R Block tax software for my old MacBook Air! Hopefully, that page will say the same thing next year. I love the H&R Block tax software so I hope I can use it with my old MacBook Air next year. Fingers crossed!
