AirPods 4 won't connect to my iPhone

I put my AirPods on the charger last night and they were blinking orange. This morning I took them off the charge and opened them but the light didn’t come on. And it took forever for my AirPods to connect to my phone, but when they would connect, the case wouldn’t be connected but the AirPods themselves were. I tried resetting them but the light won’t come on
