For starters, you aren’t speaking to Apple here, we are a user-to-user forum.

What do you mean by “Apple did this to us a year or so ago?” Apple has already stated that it had never, nor would ever do anything to intentionally shorten the life of any Apple product.

Also, you are getting close to a battery replacement. When your iPhone hits 80% battery health, which should be in about 3 months, be sure to make an appointment at your nearest Apple Store Genius Bar or Apple Authorized Service Provider for a battery replacement.

A year or so ago my battery, which had been lasting over 24 hours for a long time, suddenly wouldn't last 8 hours. I bought a backup battery which kept me alive the rest of the day. Then a month or two later, again suddenly the battery resumed lasting over 24 hours. Now again I'm having to depend on the backup batter. I am certain that both changes resulted from OS updates.

I don't accept your statement that my battery is at the end of its life when it reports 83%. You shouldn't assume the person you're talking to is ignorant.

Hello~ It’s recommended to have your battery changed at 80% or below. So it is correct that your battery is in fact nearing the end of its functional life. All batteries do this. I can tell you that all of us who participate here are fellow forum users…just like yourself and we volunteer hours of our time each day to try to assist each other. I find that exceptional and I am proud to be a part of these forums. They’re filled with knowledgeable and caring people. So with that being said …no one here has implied nor assumed that you are ignorant. Take you iPhone in and have it checked by clicking on below…
