Email lags on iPhone 12 Pro Max after iOS 18.2.1 update

Updated to iOS 18.2.1 (22C161) with the new email client and my email is super slow to update. So slow that I’ve had to start logging into my mail web interfaces to get my email for things like 2fa. Completely unusable. Has anyone experienced this and or have suggestions to fix it? Yes I’ve restarted the phone (iPhone 12 max)
