I Cloud for Windows App not working properly

I am on Windows 11 and have done all the latest updates to both Windows 11 and ios (18.2.1). I have uninstalled and reinstalled MS Office 365 (subscription plan) and the i cloud for windows app a number of times (downloaded from the MS app store). When I open up the i cloud for windows app, I am asked to sign in to my i cloud account, which I do with no problems. When I attempt to syncronize my apple contact & calanders with MS Outlook, I get a message that states " Outlook Set Up For i cloud" - "your set up could not start because your user name or password is incorrect. Go to i Cloud for windows sign out, and sign back in." This message seems strange, given I was already signed in to my i cloud / Apple account.

I did the above and was greeted with the same message. In the meantime I see no icloud buttons on MS Outlook. For years, I have had no problems. This problem started late in December.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, I would appreciate your help.
