Transferring music from iPod nano 3rd generation to laptop

So I bought a iPod nano 3 gen from a lady her music and name is still on it … when I plug it into my laptop a file pops up but nothing is on it . I don’t know why my laptop and turns won’t show the iPod I want to take her stuff off and put my own music on it what do I do
