sorting table in Numbers

I have several tabs on one file. I can sort some tables and not others. When I select sort table the Sort Now option remains gray and I can not sort the table.

MacBook Air 15″, macOS 15.2

In the ones where you can't sort have you first set a column via Add a Column... ?
