How can I secure my Apple Account after theft?

iPod touch was stolen by a long term ex. He some how was able to go into my account on the iPod and removed the device from my account. At the same time was then a loud to add it to his account. This iPod belongs to my 16 year old daughter it was her very last birthday gift she received from her father whom we just recently lost to a battle of cancer. Any idea what can be done about this? Can't get a response or email back from Apple in regards to how resolve this issue.

First, we’re not “Apple” but just other users.

That’s a tough situation but at this point it’s a property dispute / legal matter to be resolved

If he’s taken both “physical” and “logical” control of the device (i.e. “off” your account and “on” his) there’s nothing technology-wise Apple can do.

You SHOULD take active steps to secure your account just the same.
