Accessing data for one sheet from a fixed cell on another sheet in Numbers.

I am setting up various sheets in Numbers to record transactions on our various bank accounts, one sheet for each account. I have set up each sheet so that transactions are entered from the top, ie. each transaction is always entered on row 2. At the end of the row I have a cell (F2) showing the balance of the account after the entered transaction is taken into account. I want to set up, on sheet 1, a table (Account Balances) showing the current balance for each account. This is straight forward but I cannot seem to reference the fixed cell showing the current balance, ie. F2. I can reference the cell once but as soon as another transaction goes in on the bank account sheet the formula in my Account Balances table on sheet one changes to F3, that is to say, the formula is following the original value of F2 and is now shown as F3. I am therefore not getting the updated figure in F2.

I want to be able to collect the data from cell F2 at all times as it changes due to receipts and payments made on the account. I think I have tried everything….there must be a way. All suggestions gratefully received.

$ anchors are useful when you are filling a formula down a column. But they will not work for what you want to do here, which is to always reference the value that is in D2.

For that you can try this:

=INDEX(Table 1::D,2)
