Problem pasting to TextEdit in OS14.

Since upgrading to OS14, I can't paste to TextEdit from external apps, i.e. a portion of text from email or website. The paste results in a square with question mark inside for each character.

MacBook Air, macOS 14.7

The font is not recognized...


are you pasting into plain.txt / rich text.rtf / or rich text with images.rtfd...(?) compare your results

try a different example from "i.e. a portion of text from email or website."

Thank you. 1)I usually use rtf, but either that or text, same result. 2) I need all my fonts! And it always worked until OS14. I see that it only happens when I'm copying from particular websites or emails from some email services and if I copy the question mark icon string and past it it does produce the actual text. Never tried that before. so, I guess I'll have to live with it unless when I jump to Sequoia it fixes itself. Very annoying to workflow but not the end of the world. Just another 'improvement' that isnt...
