What's the best MacBook for study in Film and Media?

My daughter is going to Uni to study Film and media, she currently has a 2019 MacBook air but need an upgrade.

I currently have a MacBook Pro 14" M1 pro chip, 16gb memory (2021)

My question is do I give her my laptop or does she buy a new MacBook air M2 or M3? (A new MacBook pro is out of the budget at this time)

I'm thinking that the course may involve editing programs etc so would my MacBook be more suitable and powerful compared to a new MacBook air.

I dont make any use of the MacBook really, I use for emails, invoicing, browsing etc, its a bit wasted on me so dont mind giving it up.
