Taking credit card payments on iPhone 14 via tap-to-pay
I have a small renovation company and a customer wants to make a payment with their credit card. Can I use my iPhone 14 to take a payment.

Yes, if your current credit card processor supports the hardware. Apple is not a processor, they just supple the transaction terminal (your iPhone).
I do it for a small business I own. It works flawlessly as long as you have a cellular or WiFi connection. I use a service called Square.
