I recently had the MacBook wiped clean in order to sell it. The buyer cannot get past the log in because the user is "John Smith" and requires a password which neither of us know. We have both been on the phone with Apple Support multiple times and they have not been able to help. Any suggestions???

Thanks for the prompt reply. Being not at all tech savvy, I had it wiped at the Apple store and clearly stated my intention to sell it. The buyer cannot get past the required password for John Smith. No idea why that name is associated with the Mac which I have not used in over a decade. I included all the discs and instruction manual. Over the phone, Apple has not been able to help. I've been advised that he needs to take it to a store and have it wiped again.
