Unable to save Excel files on MacBook Air

I cannot save an Excell file where I usally save it as I have done for many years. This has happened before but I cannot remember how to alter it. It comes up as 'I do not have permission to do so'.

Yes I am saving to documents but it tells me "I do not have permission to save files to this location. Make sure you have write access for this location". This is a problem between Microsoft and Apple, and neither will get it resolved. This happened before and Apple advised me how to resolve it but I cannot remember how to. I think I need to contact Apple again. It is pointless to contact Microsoft, its like trying to to enter the Bank of England.
