Do new MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros have ethernet functionality? They don't have RJ45 sockets

None have Ethernet built-in, but you can add external Ethernet ports. Docks and USB-C monitors often provide Ethernet ports, and you can get Ethernet adapters.
