Since 18.3 update my phone is permanently silence

After I uploaded ios 18.3 my phone became permanently silenced.

It is not set to Silence
Do Not Disturb is off
Focus off
Bluetooth off
VPN off
Checked Sounds and Notifications to make sure Ringtone on
Restarted phone umpteen times
Reset network settings

Nothing helps. I’m not getting text notifications either but the phone silence is the biggest problem. I know from the unofficial forums that other people have the same problem. Please help!

In case anyone else is having the same issue…

I think the problem could be my VPN. I use Mullvad which added Multihop and DAITA at roughly the same time I uploaded ios 18.3. I said in my

OP that I disconnected my VPN but Autoconnect is on and I’ve been restarting my phone more often, so it was probably on more than I thought.

I’ve turned off Multihop for now and it seems to have fixed the problem.

Have you gone to Settings/Sounds & Haptics and tried to adjust the volume?

Have you checked that the Mute switch above the volume buttons is not blocked by your case?

Yes, the Mute button is clear of the case and definitely off. I’ve also gone into Settings/Sounds and set the alert volume to maximum, and switched the “Change with Buttons” toggle off.

I’ve turned Haptics on, made my own custom very annoying vibration, and turned on the flashing notification on.
