Apple TV+ shows are still too dark on the TV app on Macbook

March 2025 and the dark screen issue on the TV app has still not been fixed. I've read multiple threads where people are convinced it's their actual tv or the Apple TV device and give all kinds of advice about tv settings. It's the TV app itself, on any device. I am on an M1 Macbook Pro. If I watch Severance on the TV app on Macbook, I can barely make out anything when there are shadows or a dark room, but I watch the same scene on the downloaded file, and the image is visible and fine. I've compared some other Apple TV shows with downloadable versions and episodes on Hulu and same problem. There is no fix in the Settings.

As another user pointed out in another thread, there is a function in media players where the screen darkens when you bring your mouse alive or invoke the play-ff-rewind settings. That darken function normally would disappear after a few seconds of cursor inactivity. On the TV app, it is permanent. I found watching in Chrome instead of the TV app helps. The darken effect goes away after a few seconds and you get a normal, good picture.

Apple devs do not care about users. I've worked for software companies, from startup to growth into corporate. Once something is launched, developers only want to move on the next thing. No one wants to fix bugs or simply maintain a product that is already live and their manager has already assigned them to the next project anyway.

Apple never jumps on these UX issues, no matter how many users complain. You have to endure the problems if you want to use their products. A real "let them eat cake" attitude.
