Why can't my UK AMEX be assigned as my default card in wallet?
Just opened a UK AMEX I want to be my primary card. I could add it to wallet, but when I tried to make it the default I got an message that AMEX cannot be the default card. Why???

Thanks all for the replies - turns out I had to get Amex to activate my Apple Pay, so it wasn't a wallet feature preventing it. For reference: I do live in the UK and find it's accepted most, but not all, of the places I'd use it, but do have a back up visa for those who don't.

It’s probably a limitation of American Express. American Express controls the card when in an electronic wallet. Contact American Express support team and see if they’re aware of any restrictions.
I have no issue putting several American Express cards as default, but mine are US issued and I’m in the US. Are you currently traveling?
Odd. I've got Amex as the default card in my Wallet and don't remember any problems setting it up. Have you got the Amex app on your phone? I assume you're in the UK.
BTW - it's a pain int the neck having Amex as the default card because in the UK almost no one accepts it.
Is it the Wallet app default card for Apple Pay or the Apple Account default card set in the Settings app?
For Apple Pay, the Apple account allowed me to update to AMEX for subscriptions, etc.
You’re welcome and I hope you have a great day!
