My 2011 27" iMac stopped seeing WIFI networks recently. I was able to resolve by resetting the PRAM. Restart then holding down Command-Option-P-R after the startup chime. I kept holding down for 2 chimes, just to make sure. After the restart, all was well.

I think it was an indicator of something else wrong. 2 days later the HD wouldn’t mount and load the system. I booted in Target disk mode and ran disk utility to repair the disk. When you think it’s one thing, it’s actually another thing!

Try to run Network Diagnosis if it reports WiFi related issue.
Of course I have thought of it, and decided that it's a pretty neat thing to have machine it's 15 years old running as an independent computer and at the same time, being a second screen at the same time to the 2015 27" sitting next to it. You might also be offended that I use a iPod HiFi as a speaker to my bedroom TV. Old **** can do cool stuff sometimes. I have newer laptops and iPads. Thanks for the input.
Not offended at all. I don't care what you use as long as it works for you. A lot of people have antiquated equipment (computer, car, AC system etc...) that they use for their primary which I was thinking was the category you may fall into. If you are okay using antiquated equipment no problem, just remember at some point you may run into hardware and/or software issues where the system simply is not supported in any fashion and you are stuck. Particularly when it comes to Macs it's not a bad idea if you want to stay somewhat current to get new devices every 5-10 years. No, you don't have to worry about filling a landfill as Apple has free recycling programs.

Steve, To be be really honest your 2011 is really antiquated and should have been replaced a few years ago. Have you considered replacing it?
