How can I remove a grey floating icon (left hand side - on top of 'Notes' icon). It has something to do with voice memos. When I tap it, 'Live Captions' box opens.

You can touch and hold that grey floating menu button to move it somewhere else on the screen.
To remove it entirely, you could turn Assistive Touch off in the same way you turned it on:
You can ask Siri to close (or open) Assistive Touch .. or, if set-up, you can use Accessibility shortcut to close it,
pr go to: Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Assistive Touch > Tap to turn it off (or on).

looks like it could have something to do with voice memos.
This is what Voce Memos icon looks like when added to Control Centre
Eg: You may want to check whether Voice Memos needs pausing ?

Thanks for that link. Live Captions was the issue! When I turned off Live Captions, the grey box disappeared. Cheers!!
Thanks for your reply, but I don't think it can be an AssistiveTouch problem as that is already turned off.
The grey floating menu button is a real pain as it always sits over the top of another icon and I'm constantly having to move it - and often accidentally trigger it to open in the process!
