If the bank has completed their investigation and you’re not permitted to transfer to you bank, funds will remain in the account until your state laws say they are unclaimed. Depending on the state you live in, this is anywhere for 6 to 24 months.

Once the funds are officially unclaimed, the bank sends the funds to your state’s unclaimed funds account. Once the state has control of the funds, you can file a claim with the state to take control of the funds. State’s generally take several months to evaluate the claim and turnover the funds.

If Your Apple Cash Account Becomes Inactive.

“We may transfer, also known as escheat, funds in your Apple Cash Balance to the appropriate state if no activity occurs on your Apple Cash Account or if you fail to communicate with us regarding your Apple Cash Account within the time period specified by state law. We may consider your Apple Cash Account inactive even if you maintain another active account with us. If funds are transferred to a state, you may file a claim with the state to recover the funds.”
