Unable to add bank card to wallet

Some month ago the bank card I had in my Apple Wallet and used for Apple Pay stopped working.

When trying to re-enter the card I got msg. "Could Not Add Card Try again later or contact your card issuer for more information"

After countless re-tries still nothing. Bank says it happens and even with my new card the issue persists.

I see under Add to Wallet there is Previous Cards. How can I permanently delete these expired cards?

Your question was about removing the card from the Previous Cards list. It should automatically be removed after about 11 days or so.

So, the real issue is trying to add the card to your Wallet, correct?

What is the exact error message when you attempt to add a card? Are there currently any cards in your Wallet app?

Seen this a lot over the past 4-5 years. If you have ever had a different address within your bank or Apple then that’s the problem and you will always have problems. Apples SQL database is more than likely retrieving an old record with an old address that isn’t matching the bank servers address for you. The bank IT manager would be able to see if that is the case or not. Like in my case when I tried adding the debit card it would give me the same error your getting. So after talking with the bank they told me they could tell that the Apple server was displaying a different address for my account on the backend vs what I actually had for my address for my Apple account which we could easily see in my Apple account settings. Talk to your Bank IT team, unfortunately they have a deeper understanding than the people you call at Apple do. Very few Apple advisors are true IT experts.

Apple good advice overall. Thanks for your contribution.

Apple Support aren’t meant to be IT experts. The OP will receive an error message basically telling them to contact the bank for further assistance. The bank’s people are clueless and say it’s not our issue, call Apple. It’s the bank’s poorly trained support at the root of the issue.

The second thing is Apple servers/data bases play no role in providing account information. The information comes from the iPhone itself and is encrypted on the iPhone. When Apple receives the data it’s basically forward to the PNO (most banks use the PNO, but can use a third party). The PNO decrypts the data and verifies basic information the account holder submitted. For example any card errors such as wrong expiration date, invalid card number and it gets bounced back to Apple and then to iPhone with basic error message. Information on Apple servers never comes into play. If an address is wrong, it’s on the iPhone.
