I’m locked out of my Mac and don’t know why

"I’m locked out of my Mac and don’t know why: My kids used my Mac, and somehow I can’t log in anymore. At first I could use my fingerprint to get in but couldn’t change any settings or get into any accounts because my password wouldn’t work. Then I changed my password and that won’t work now and neither will my fingerprint"
