tax exemption for native

My friend recently got accepted into university, lives on a reservation, and has a status card.

He’s wondering if he qualifies for tax exemption regarding online orders? or is that only allowed for in person stores situated on native land.

If yes, what would the procedure be and could it be paired with an education discount? So, education pricing and no tax.

He plans to buy a MacBook and iPad for university.

This is in Canada btw

Apple collects whatever they are legally bound to collect on behalf of all applicable taxing authorities. When placing an order on the Buy Mac - Apple website, you will need to pay whatever charges appear on the invoice upon checking out.

"The sales tax listed on the checkout page is only an estimate. Your invoice will contain the final sales tax, including state and local taxes, as well as any applicable rebates or fees. In California and Rhode Island, sales tax is collected on the unbundled price of iPhone."

That example appears for us on Apple's US online store. What you will see in Canada may be different. You will not be able to alter it, and Apple will not provide any kind of tax relief for you.

What in-person stores intend to collect from you needs to be determined separately.
