2023 M2 Mac Mini internal speakers not working

The internal speakers have recently stopped working reliably. I do go back and forth using the headphone jack. OS Sonoma

If the audio is not reliable switching back to internal when a device is unplugged.

Then that sounds like a problem with the micro switch inside of the Mac mini's headphone port.

Sadly the only way to confirm and/or fix a bad micro switch in the headphone port.

Is to take the Mac mini to your local Apple Store or Apple Authorize Services Provider for service.

Thanks. That was what I was thinking, too. I'm embarrassed to say that after I posted my question, I thought I should try restarting the computer. When it came back on, it worked. Fingers crossed that it will continue. If not, I'll follow your advice. I appreciate your response.
