Command+x over a Photos album folder simply made it disappear! How can I make it reaper?

I decided to move an album folder into another album folder as I was updating my Photos app album organizational structure. So I selected the album folder I intended to move and pressed command+x on it (in an attempt to command+v it inside the destination album folder), got prompted with a "Preparing to copy" message, saw the selected album folder disappeared (as expected), but I could not command+v it anywhere. Now it seems like it is gone forever. My albums were so neatly organized inside that original album folder. I feel so frustrated. Is there anyway I can recover that album folder with its albums and photos just as I had organized them?

You didn't tell us what OS your are using, and that always makes it hard to understand what's going on. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by "album folder." In Photos (all OSs,)

Pictures are in the Library, and they can be in Albums.
Albums can be in Folders, but Albums cannot be inside other Albums.
Folders can be inside other Folders.
Pictures can not be in Folders unless they are in Albums.

I had never used ⌘-x in Photos until I saw your post. I have found that ⌘-x will remove a picture from an album, much like delete. Then ⌘-z, used immediately, will return it. ⌘-x, unlike delete, copies the removed picture to the clipboard, and then it can be pasted into a document, just like with ⌘-c.

If I select an Album or a Folder, ⌘-x has no effect at all, except to produce an obnoxious "clump" sound.

On the other hand, when I want to move a folder or an Album into another folder, I just drag it there.

Command+z (undo) also didn't work and I don't have Time Machine working yet. Is it gone forever? What did I get wrong? My albums were so neatly organized inside that original album folder. I feel so frustrated. Will I have to recreate it photo by photo, album by album, all over again, or is there another way to make that album folder reappear with all its albums and photos just as I had organized them?
