Why do my new AirPods keep pausing and make a clicking noise?

I just got new airpods for my birthday and I cant listen to music, it keeps pausing almost every 5 seconds or more there is also a constant clicking noise in the right one or if im just using one at a time it clicks in that one. Ive turned off automatic ear detection, ive tried to disconnect and reconnect nothing works
