iMac: need to Uninstall Spectrum Antivirus Shield
How do we uninstall Spectrum Shield when the Security Suite cannot be found in Finder?
iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15
Your best bet is to locate the developers uninstall instructions ( https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/security-suite-mac-uninstall-anti-virus-software) and follow them to the letter.
Then run FindAnyFile and have it search and remove anything with the words:
- Spectrum Shield
- Spectrum Suite
Then run an EtreCheck report and very carefully analyze it to ensure Spectrum Shield has been removed. If it has not then your best bet is to do an erase and then install Mac OS and start over again. Ensure you backup all of your data using Time Machine prior to doing an erase and then test your backup to ensure it is working okay. You can test the backup by simply restoring any file like an old text document or a Word document.
