This happened a while ago and I don't recall any specific issue at the time other than it stopped volume adjustments. Still turns TV off, when turning off the AppleTV box. Have tried all the various options under settings for different IR types.

Have you tried restarting the remote? I've had this issue with my Yamaha receiver a few times and restarting the remote fixed it every time for me.
